Ernest G. and Phyllis C. Green MSU Black Alumni Scholarships

Application DUE February 1, 2026

This award recognizes Ernest G. Green for his many accomplishments and his commitment to promoting equal opportunities for African Americans. The award is dedicated to attracting and retaining talented students who will enhance program diversity and reinforce the record of commitment by the College of Social Science for educating students who are representative of our larger society. This scholarship also recognizes MSU Black Alumni, Inc. and Ernest G. Green's membership and consistent support of the national organization and his Washington, D.C. chapter. To be awarded Fall Semester 2026.

Who qualifies: College of Social Science primary or second-degree majors who are entering as a freshman, current freshman, sophomore, or junior with a 3.0 GPA or better.

How much: up to $3,000

How it can be used: Cost of attendance

How to apply:

  1. Submit a 2-3 page essay by the applicant in response to the following question: "What are the lifetime accomplishments of Ernest Green of the Little Rock Nine and how do/will his achievements impact on your life and career goals?"
  2. Submit a student-prepared resume of career achievements to date.
  3. Submit no more than two letters of recommendation from the applicant’s faculty supervisor, mentor, academic advisors, unit heads, or other appropriate referees.

NOTE: All the required materials need to be uploaded prior to submitting the application. A missing requirement makes the application incomplete and may be rejected.
