Charles Hayden Kelley Scholarships

Application DUE February 1, 2026

This award is intended to benefit worthy and capable students in the College of Social Science who have unusual financial needs but may not normally qualify for financial aid. Preference is given to students from single parent households who, without this award, would have difficulty attending MSU.

Who qualifies: College of Social Science primary or second-degree majors who are entering as a first-year student, a current first-year student, sophomore, or junior and who may not qualify for financial aid. Preference given to students from single parent households.
How much: up to $4,000
How it can be used: Cost of attendance

How to apply:

  1. Submit a 1-2 page personal essay prepared by the student indicating the applicant’s academic and career goals AND the ways in which the applicant meets the criteria for the Kelley Scholarship.
  2. Submit a student-prepared resume of career achievements to date.
  3. Submit no more than two letters of recommendation from the applicant’s faculty supervisor, mentor, academic advisors, unit heads, or other appropriate referees.

NOTE: All the required materials need to be uploaded prior to submitting the application. A missing requirement makes the application incomplete and may be rejected.
